CAD. Computer Aided Design
CAD is what we call the the technology we use to visualize the designs we create for digital fabrication tools. These designs can be single or multi sided. They can also be 3Dimensional for fabrication with multi-axis subtractive technologies, or built up with additive digital fabrication tools.
CAM. Computer Aided Manufacturing

CNC. Computer Numerated Control
This is the term we use to describe the control of digital fabrication tools like CNC routers, 3D printers, laser engraving machines, and more. You can also think of the term CNC as the communication between the whole system; which includes the designer, the operator, the design software (CAD), machine programming software (CAM), the machine control software that we use to execute CAM files with, and the digital fabrication machine itself with the tooling it employs.
